After three decades of leadership experience in philanthropy, I've had the privilege of witnessing its transformative power across a diverse range of sectors in the USA, UK, Ireland and Asia.
My experience spans higher education, scientific research, engineering, conservation, biodiversity, health, and the arts. Each year continues to affirm the profound impact of charitable giving.
I have launched Murphy Philanthropy to provide bespoke services to purpose-driven organisations, helping them enhance their fundraising capabilities to best achieve their mission.
Simultaneously, I work closely with passionate donors to ensure their generosity achieves meaningful results. It's about creating synergy between philanthropic intent and organisational needs.
I firmly believe that philanthropy is more than a financial transaction; it's a deeply human act that blends joy and courage. Societies have nurtured and celebrated this spirit for generations, and it's an honour to be part of this enduring tradition.
Having served some of the world's leading organisations, I now offer my experience more broadly. My aim is twofold: to strengthen organisations, enhancing their effectiveness, and to help donors and volunteers achieve genuine impact while finding joy in their giving.
Whether you are leading an organisation seeking to transform your fundraising efforts or you're a donor looking to make a significant difference, I'd be delighted to lend my expertise.
I am helping Degrees secure funding to build climate change research capacity in the Global South with a focus on governance of solar Radiation management(SRM). This is a controversial proposal for temporarily reducing some of the impacts of climate change by reflecting a small fraction of sunlight away from the Earth. Ending greenhouse gas emissions is the primary strategy to limit global warming. Adaptation can help limit risks from increasing warming. Degrees is neutral on SRM and will neither promote nor oppose it.
I am helping the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) by designing and testing an endowment campaign for the charity. It's truly an honour to support their crucial work in preventing child abuse, particularly as they address the growing online risks faced by children.
The Saatchi Gallery is at the forefront of contemporary art and creativity with a mission to support artists and render contemporary art accessible to all. It has a tremendous presence in the art world but relatively newly established as an independent charity. I am helping the gallery build its overall fundraising programme.
I am supporting the Wallace Collection with a campaign feasibility study as they prepare for the next chapter in the story of this great museum in London. The Wallace Collection is one of my favourite museums housing unsurpassed masterpieces of painting, sculpture, furniture, arms and armour, and porcelain.
